Lesson No. 14

Rules of Raa

(Page 35)

  • If there is Fatha or Dhamma on the letter Raa then the letter Raa will be pronounced with bold voice, with a full mouth, if there is Kasra then it will be recited slightly with empty mouth. Examples: رجال ربما ربك
  • If Raa is saakin then look at the letter before if that is with Fatha or Dhamma then it will be with a full mouth and if there is Kasra then it will be recited with empty mouth slightly as برق . يرزقون . أنذرهم but Kasra should not be Aridhi (caused by something) as اِرجعوا nor to be in two separate words ,as أم ارتابو and there should not be any Heavy Accent Letter after Raa in a single word ,as قرطاس . إرصادا فرقة لبالمرصاد in all these 3 conditions Raa will be recited with a full mouth not slightly, even though there is Kasra before.
  • If the letter before is also with sakoon then all the rules will be implemented with the same way while considering in Mutaharrek Letter.Examples: .ذي الذكر بكم العسر ليلة القدر If there is Yaa sakina before Raa sakina then Raa will be recited slightly forever.Examples: . خير قدير
  • If we do stop on the letters Misra مصر, Ain-ul-Qitr .عين القطر then it can be recited with bold and light voice but it is much better to pronounce it according to the haraka of Raa and it should be considered.
  • The Raa of the word Majre`haa مجرها will be recited with empty mouth (MuraQQaQ).
  • There is one way of stopping where we need to appear the harakath of last letter while stopping on it,if there is kasra or dhamma, such rule is called (Raw`m),in this regard, all the rules will be applied according to the haraka of last letter.
